Go so far away that you stop being afraid of not coming back.

Be Your Own Knight in Shining Light…

When I began studying naturopathic medicine...there was no separating the parts of the body.  Allopathically, doctors tend to treat individual symptoms.  That is how patients end up on ten different medications.  Zyrtec for sinus woes. Prilosec for stomach. This for depression. That for pain. A handful of meds that some of us take mindlessly. Because, the Doctor said so.

This week I had a dear client, with a recent loss.  I expected her to fall apart.  I expected the worst to protect myself.  And, while I was surprised that she didn't broach a tearful end to her massage. I realized that she was utilizing all avenues to avoid it. We all do.

When we undergo stresses.  Over and over again, our bodies tend to build walls.  Posture changes. We fold our shoulders forward to protect our hearts.  We keep our heads down to avoid eye contact or communication because we fear the outcomes. We also take an internal approach to this. Cellular structures change. Musculature changes. They get firmer, rigid, hard.  It is called Armoring...and with good reason.   The body is trying to protect itself.  From what?  Possibly, your thoughts.

Ever rub someone's shoulders that are like bricks?

Next time, wonder what they have been shouldering for so long.  Empathize.

Hardening of the arteries? Could it be a lack of love in their life? Love of self?

Certainly the healing arts have their tactics to assist with working on this problem.  Massages. Acupuncture. It all helps heal the energetics of the situation.  But, the best way to overcome it...mindfulness. Believing what you say. Manifesting it's truth.  Manifest it in a positive way rather than closing off the body from the light it wishes to receive.

For years my mother said things like, "Oh, that hurts my heart." (Said in your best southern accent.) Once I learned of this technique, this belief, I asked her to stop.  Who knows what damage could have been done.

Our minds, our thoughts, our words.  They do so much more than tinker away little thoughts and make efforts at communication to survive.  They build walls far stronger than you can imagine.  Years of thinking you are worthless can make you so hard for a gentle soul to enter.

Thought is energy.

Seeing is energy.

Speaking is a vibration of that energy.

Put them together and you create matter.  Something real, tangible.  Something we are all scared of.

But, why?  If you want it...say it!

If you don't want it...get it out of your head!

Empower yourself and empower your thoughts with a more positive approach.  Break down your walls and allow the lightness, the things that bring you joy, to enter your heart once again.

Instead of "I can't" or "I will try"..."I can"

Instead of "It's hard" or "I will attempt"..."I can do anything"

And, you will!

May you honor yourself, your health. Let your heavy armor fall aside and shield yourself with a healing white light.  (Visualization is key!)

Love and appreciate yourself for what you are and not what you think you should be.

We all need a little sunshine.  Cast off your shadows and let your joy grow.
